What Are Expressions?

In the context of Deep Reflection, an Expression is the fundamental unit of knowledge, thought, or style conveyed by a person through any form of communication. Expressions are the core building blocks used to train a personalized AI model — known as a Reflection — that mirrors the individual's intellectual, emotional, and creative identity.

Key Concepts

  • Expressions are real.
They come directly from what the person has actually said, written, or shared — such as a blog post, a podcast, a video interview, a tweet, or a paragraph from a book.

  • Expressions are diverse.
They can be text, audio transcriptions, video transcriptions, social media posts, public talks, or private notes — any content that reflects a meaningful thought or perspective.

  • Expressions are atomic.
Each expression represents a single, self-contained idea, insight, argument, or sentiment. They are small enough to preserve clarity but rich enough to carry personal meaning.

How They Work

Expressions are ingested by the Deep Reflection API and indexed within the creator’s Reflection. When users interact with a Reflection — for example, by asking a question — the system retrieves and synthesizes the most relevant expressions to generate accurate, personalized responses.

These expressions form the knowledge base of the AI, ensuring that every answer is grounded in content the person actually expressed.

Why It Matters

Unlike generic AI models trained on anonymous or synthetic datasets, Deep Reflection builds AI models rooted in authentic, attributable human content. Expressions ensure:

  • Authenticity: The AI speaks with the real voice of the person.
  • Control: Only the knowledge the creator chooses to include becomes part of the model.
  • Evolution: Reflections can grow over time as new expressions are added.

In summary, an expression in Deep Reflection is not just data — it's a fragment of a person’s identity, consciously integrated into a living, evolving AI model.
